Grand Bend Area WWTF Expansion and Upgrade

Summa’s past experience in construction and implementation of Wastewater Treatment Plant SCADA Systems and working with vendor package systems, in addition to our expertise in programming, documentation, and commissioning allowed for the successful completion of this project.

Background

The Grand Bend WWTP was upgraded from a lagoon system to a mechanical treatment plant with a peak flow of 7,500m3/d. The upgrade project consisted of a new process and administration building, headworks, filtration, UV, aeration, and clarifiers. SCADA requirements include PLC panel, vendor package systems for Screen and Grit removal, Filtration, UV, Secondary Treatment, Building Services, and Chemical Dosing, and a Profibus network with instrumentation, controls, and monitoring devices.

Summa Engineering Limited was pre-selected as the System Integrator through an RFP.

Scope of Work

The goal was to deliver the project on schedule and on budget to meet and exceed the expectations of the project.

Summa was responsible for supplying and commissioning the PLC panel and SCADA hardware and software, all PC and SCADA programming, Profibus network integration, and all package system co-ordination and integration into the plant SCADA.
